Taiwan the Third in Asia, the 13th in World in Networked Readiness


      In the ¡§Networked Readiness Index¡¨ which the World Economic Forum (WEF) released on March 28 as part of The Global Information Technology Report 2006-2007, Denmark and Sweden rank the first and the second, respectively, while Taiwan takes the 13th place. In Asia , Taiwan ¡¦s ranking is the third, behind only Singapore and Hong Kong . (See Table 2)

 

The Networked Readiness Index measures the degree of a country¡¦s preparation to participate in and benefit from information technology. The index is made up of three component indexes which assess the ICT environment which a country offers, the level of ICT readiness and propensity of the country¡¦s three main stakeholders (individuals, businesses, and the government), and the actual usage of ICT by these three stakeholders.

 

A total of 122 economies throughout the world were surveyed for The Global Information Technology Report 2006-2007, seven more than for the previous report. For more detailed information, please go online and visit this website:
