Taoyuan Air Cargo Park FTZ Welcomes 68 Enterprises

The Taoyuan Air Cargo Park /Taoyuan Free Trade Zone began operating on Jan. 1, 2006. The job of filling up the park is proceeding according to plan, with 68 companies signing contracts by Jan. 20 to take up residence and numerous other enterprises negotiating to move in.

ˇ@ˇ@The air cargo park covers an area of 45 hectares on the northern edge of Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport, and is connected to the airportˇ¦s control area by a dedicated 600-meter road. This is the ideal location for developing air cargo logistics in Taiwan. The area offers exemption from customs duties, commodity and business taxes, tobacco and wine taxes, and trade development and harbor service fees, and also provides autonomous management outside of the islandˇ¦s customs territory. In addition, the government permits FTZ enterprises to engage in deep processing and to employ foreign workers up to 40% of their total workforce, and enables them to operate on the model of ˇ§orders received in the morning and customs cleared in the afternoon.ˇ¨ This model of operation allows the full utilization of Taiwanˇ¦s high-value-added manufacturing advantage and reinforces the global logistics competitiveness of multinational enterprises in Taiwan.
