Pharmaceutical Act Revision Gives Five-year Protection to New Pharmaceuticals

        On Jan. 21 the Legislative Yuan passed a revision of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law to add protection for pharmaceutical data exclusivity up to five years. This new measure conforms to the international trend in medical care regulations; it will also help reinforce the protection of intellectual property rights in Taiwan, and thus encourage pharmaceutical companies to develop new pharmaceutical products.
